The History of Mason's

The Talmadge house was built in 1866. It was a stagecoach stop which ran between Port Jervis and Goshen. There was a tavern downstairs and rooms for rent upstairs. When the Erie railroad was built, it became The Wawayanda Inn.

The Masons family bought the building in 1917, closed the tavern and opened the general store, which they operated until 2004.

In 2013, the Wright family purchased the building and spent two years renovating all three floors. Growing up in the area, it was important to us to restore this authentic treasure to it’s original glory. The tables & bars in the taproom were made from 150 year old pine trees that were just outside of the taproom windows.

On June 5, 2015 Mason’s Marketplace opened!
